There is a huge difference between manufacturing capacity and being able to build a self-driving car. There are also numerous things that Musk or his minions could do to mess up Tesla. I have been watching this closely for years and my big issue is that Musk does not really understand customers or how to relate to them. He had a chance to make Tesla into a cult just as Steve Jobs did with Apple but he failed. My prediction has been that regular car companies with over a century of experience dealing with customers (even given customer relations are not their best efforts) will be able to roll up the arrogant Elon. Ten years from now Tesla might be better known as a charging network than a car company.

Used to write a lot more about science, tech, econ, politics etc. I spend my time reading and painting with exercise for good measure. Looking for more.
