So there are two issues: the diet itself and preparing it. I love to cook, I am a foodie. I’ve found the Med Diet takes more time to prepare and in a culture of fast food, that’s a problem. Here are some helpers: 1. Don’t keep unhealthy food in the house. Dah! I keep flour, sugar, eggs and butter in thee house but don’t often bake a cake. 2. Make more than you need. Lunch is a desert and having leftovers solves that problem. If you like a salad with some tuna or chicken go for it. My wife does. I prefer more variety. So I always cook more at night. 3. Don’t cook with EVO. It smokes around 250 degrees and the smoke gets all over your cabinets making them sticky. Any other oil is fine. I use Canola. 4. Eat EVO. The Med Diet uses EVO as a condiment. I drizzle it on everything and it is delicious though you might need to get used to it. 5. Whole grains are part of this so are beans and lentils. Don’t worry about the carbs. Think instead about the fiber. More fiber willl actually make you happier. About 94% of serotonin, the happiness hormone is made in the gut with the help of microbes. Those microbes do well on a diet rich in fiber.
