Good stuff. But consider this. Totalitarian regimes are like trees, they never grow to the moon. They end up tripping over themselves and it’s the same reason every time. Freedom. A society that is not free eventually implodes because the rank and file quit in place. It happened in the USSR and is a slow burning catastrophe in China andd Russia right now. India, maybe. Brazil maybe. There is good news in climate. First, only one nation really needs to do something and that is removing carbon from the atmosphere. Cutting emissions is nice but insufficient. You do it by promoting growth of plankton in the sea. I wrote a book about it. Second, you can’t curtail emissions, it’s a fool’s errand. As long as there’s something to burn, someone will burn it. The good news here is that earth is running out of fossil fuels. We have not discovered net new hydrocarbon deposits since 2003. Fracking means going after what’s left of old deposits. Market forces wil do the rest. So Brics is irrelevant, you are right! But how the brics crumble is a bigger story, one that can have significant consequences unless we manage the situation carefully.

Used to write a lot more about science, tech, econ, politics etc. I spend my time reading and painting with exercise for good measure. Looking for more.
