De-growth is an interesting word and I don’t know how a capitalist, consumer oriented economy would work under the circumstances. More likely kids will become horrendously expensive. In my life we went from an assumption of big families to 2 kids more or less. The problem is that there are so many people reproducing today that growing the population isn’t hard. Sad.
